Stuff to give away

It is time to get rid of a bunch of stuff before we leave for Australia. Members of the DCDiy group are welcome to take whatever they want for no charge. I have been given most of it and I would rather see it not go to the dump. KC has volunteered to store it until it is safe to hold a meet. Naturally, I would prefer that you actually try to use the item rather than list it for sale.

I dropped the stuff off today with KCDonahue who lives in Harford county. He has already boxed the stuff and has taken a few items.  I will leave it up to him to arrange how he wants to disperse the rest.

I took two tubes, a 6a3 and the 83 mercury rectifier, I also grabbed the pair of large 6v filament transformers, a 60v torroid and the organ amp chassis

On the left is a Madisound DVC 12" subwoofer 1252D. I actually used it in an 8' piece of Sonotube for a while and it made everything vibrate.

Madisound 1252DVC
12" diameter
Impedence: 8 ohms/coil
Power handling: 100 watts both coils driven
Efficiency : 92 db/w/m
Fs = 15 Hz
Vas = 533 liters
Qms = 4.1
Qes = 0.39
Qts = 0.36

On the right is a 256GB external drive. It contains about half of my CD collection (mostly classical). It is all in FLAC and suitable for use with JRiver.

Two 10" JBL 125A woofers. My wife did the reconing. I used them in one of the Tuba designs from Bill Fitzmaurice. My wife objected to the size of the boxes. I objected to the weight of the damned boxes.

There are also a couple of plastic pegboards.

More power cords than you can poke a stick at. I am still intrigued by the stacked 48 DVC SMPS units that I used in my GK71 amp and they each came with a power cord.

Two 6" Tannoy dual concentric speakers. The brown object is a Russian PIO cap which I used to replace what the speakers came from. The speakers came in ceiling units which used 70 volt line transformers which I used in my 6C33C Cat Vomit Special amp.

Two of the famous Radio Shack 1354A speakers. I bought mine before they became famous to use as sacrificial speakers when I would fire up an amp for the first time.

I decided I needed to build a guitar amp (6V6) and did so using this Weber 8" speaker in a home built cabinet. I even purchased a cheap guitar but let's just say the guitar went to the Goodwill the other day.

A bunch of Radio Shack and All Electronics filament transformers. On the left are a couple of humongous 6 volt transformers.

The organ amp.

I have no idea how to use this but it has some heatsinks.

A 10K variable resistor.

On the left are two very heavy 115 : 18 (I think) transformers. I never got around to using them.

On the right is an industrial transformer. It's too heavy for me to build with now.

Another industrial transformer. It's a monster.

Two 115:115 CT transformers.

The isolation transformer which Stuart asked for. More about it in this thread.

Aren't they lovely toes.

A bunch of toroid transformers. They are 115v primaries and therefore useless in Oz. Output voltages vary.

Like many of you, I have been given lots of tubes over the years. You may find something useful.

More tubes.

I played with these DML speakers for a while attached to pieces of foam. They showed promise. One of the forums has more about them.

A Terk FM antenna.

There are also a bunch of the Part Express 69 cent wonders which you can read about here. I used them in arrays and quite liked them.

There will also be a bunch of motor run capacitors.

And a year's worth of Gramophone magazines if David wants them.

  1. As it has been 18 months since this was posted ... I suspect the Madisound 1252DVC is likely no longer available. However, if it is still available ... please email me at: 2big2fail4u at gmail dot com
